Using Mercury Power Tune to clean carbon in EFI motors

Top100 Boat

This is a shock treatment and we do this once and sometimes twice per season. This should also be done if you change to Synthetic Oil.

1. Remove cowling, take off spark plug wires, and remove spark plugs. Spray an equal amount of power tune into each cylinder until can is empty. You will have to rotate the flywheel by hand to get all of the cylinders coated.

2. Put spark plugs back in loosely, "DO NOT TIGHTEN", and "DO NOT PUT WIRES BACK ON", replace cowling. Let motor set for 24+ hours.

3. Take boat to the lake, remove cowling, remove spark plugs, pull kill switch, and free spin motor with the starter. This will blow out any excess moisture ---- this is critical and has to be done to prevent vapor locking ---- .

4. Replace the kill switch, reinstall spark plugs and tighten, replace spark plug wires, and put the cowling back on.

5. Have a friend back you into the water so that the boat launches its self off the trailer. When you start the motor, put it in gear and go ---- don't idle around. Run at 5000+rpm's for 10-20 minutes.

6. Finally when you get your boat back home, put a fresh set of plugs in the motor.
